Tire question - 2013 JKU 10A

I recently picked up a 2013 JKU 10A that needs to have the stock 265/70/17 KM2's replaced. My usage will more overlanding and rough forest roads, remote boat launches (fly fishing), etc. I have decided on the KO2's as replacements given the long highway miles that come before the off road stuff.

I have an Ursa Minor J30 on the Jeep and while stiffer springs might be an option to help with the extra weight of the top plus gear, I have no plans on lifting the rig right now.

Is there any real pro/con to going with 275/70's over the stock size? Given the stock size is already different than the normal Rubicon tire size, it seems like Jepp would have used 275's from the start if needed?

Thanks in advance.

yes

I am running 315 70 17s on my 08 rubi 4 dr. It has a Ome lift and with the bumpers Randall the lifts nets may be 3. My gearing is bone stock It does fine. If you have the 2013 then you have the pentastar motor which makes more power so i would go with a larger tire. it will give you better clearance. it may only be an inch but that might be just enough... maybe consider a 285 size. By the way I am running Kelly springfield safaris check them out unless you are so set on the ko2 these are great tire an much less expensive.

Soft and comfortable is a good thing sometimes.

"need" is in the hands of the beholder (i.e. who be holding the steering wheel ;)).
Some people never change away from the basic Sport tires and wheels.

Based on the "specs", there is only 1/2" difference in height between the two. But... you end up with an E rated tire in that size for the KO2.
If you go with the 265/70R 17 you *can* get a C rated tire, or an E rated tire. So that is something to consider. Both are the same dimension as the stock tire, according to the specs on Tire Rack.

For what you are doing, I'd be tempted to go with the C rated tire in the 265/70R 17 size.

I'm running the 275/70r17 KO2 on my 2013 JKUR now and love them. Fit nicely in the wheel wells and no rubbing under normal driving conditions. I have yet to get them off-road, but since I'm not a rock crawler, I don't have any concerns about rubbing at compression. They are a bit heavier than the KMs, which I noticed at first, but now I don't. They are great on a daily driver and did amazing in snow and particularly ice. I know some folks express concerns about airing down the E rated tires, but for your use (and mine) I don't think that's an issue at all. I would absolutely buy these tires again.

I have 265s for the winter, and 285s for the summer. I would run the 285 if I were you. put a set of quality wheel spacers on there and enjoy. The difference in size is quite dramatic. I have a photo of my rig with the 285s on the front and 265s on the rear, and its like WOW. Driving, I like the 285s more. I think I'm going to get a set of studded 285s for next season. I knew I kept my wheel spacers for something.

I believe the 275/70r27 ko2s are stock on the Black Bear Edition jeeps. They are almost exactly the same size as 255/75 km tire, stock on Rubicon's.

You will be fine with those tires. I just put them on my daughters 16 Jkurhr. Great tires. I have a j30 on my 2013 jkur. I would not put c load range tires on. I have load range d and wish I had e.
