tire size for 4runner

mph

Expedition Leader
Hello...I have a 2006 4runner(sr5v6), and I am about to get some new tires. I have a 3" ome lift that Kurt from Cruiser Outfitters put on. So, anyone have some tire size recommendations? I am looking at the 265/70 r17 or the
285/70 r 17. Would like to go with the bigger tire but the 285 looks like it might rub; especially when articulating offroad. Also, anyone see a decrease in MPG with the any of these two tire sizes?

Advice or help? Much appreciated!

the 265/70-17 works nicely and no mods necessary. I had 265 MTR's and they were great combo w/ the OME lift. It looked great and performed.

285 will req mud flap removal/plastic trimming I believe (this is if you offroad and flex it)

you will notice a mpg loss, depending on what tire you get.

Can anyone tell me what would be a good increased tire size for an 07 4runner WITHOUT a lift?
Our grocery getter is getting some new tires and my wife is wanting some meatier tires on her rig so any help is awesome!

+1 size is 265/70/17. Had them on my 98 Limited, stock height. No rub except at lock and full compression.

The MPG drop was about 2MPG, so take that into consideration.

I agree.

They are currently $94.00 each mail order from the TireRack.com

If you later change wheels to 16” then you will have a few more options including the 33-inch LT255/85R16.

BFG 255/75 R17 Mud Terrain.

These are fitted to the Wrangler Rubicon. Perfect tire for the 17" wheeled 4Runners.
