Now that I have your attention...

Here is a link to my thread about brake-line damage that occurred over the weekend.

http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=164145

You guys should check the welds on those swaybar mounts or take them off completely as this apparently has been a fairly common occurrence.

This could happen to you!

Skillet, Thanks for the heads-up. Besides the brake issue,it looks like you had a great time. Enjoyed the picts.

No problem. I hope this keeps someone else from going brake-less.

It was a great time, super challenging and a little hair raising at times but that place is so beautiful it was well worth it.

My pics don't do it justice.

After my front swat bar mounts broke loose, I removed the front bar and left it against the wall in the garage. Happened about 2 years ago and I caught it before it rubbed thru the line.

ouch, thanks for the heads up. I hope it still handles well with the roof top tent and only sway bar

Ha, ha.

Sorry.

Just don't want anyone else to have the feeling I did five miles up a rocky friggin' trail with brake fluid pools on the ground.

Yeah, i was kidding.. i'll check mine out this weekend for sure.

I just thought someone had their rig stolen from them at gun point or something.

I checked mine.

The swaybar mounts still look good. I guess it helps that the swaybars have been removed and have been sitting in the garage for a year though.

Does this have anything to do with why the sway bar mounts were changed on the 1997 models?

I don't know but I am amazed that it is the first time I have heard of the problem (the hard way).

I just checked mine. They look o.k. for now.

Did your mount break at the weld?
And it is a very weak looking mount as well.

Thanks Jeb.

Red Lake is beautiful. We didn't go up to Coyote b/c the trail looked too difficult.
Did your aux. tank hit/scrape at all?

The welds broke off of the axle. If you look at the last pic in that thread, you can see the actual mount flipped up and over the top of the bar.
Crazy I did not notice while attempting repair. Too flustered, I guess.

So, you have been to Red Lake? Great area huh? Not many folks have heard of that place.
We were going to stay there at Red Lake but I had my 'Bad Idea' jeans on that day so we continued on to Coyote.
And the answer is 'NO', I was not drinking.

Yes, my auxillary tank got smashed pretty good. Oh well, now it only holds 43 gallons instead of 44.

We went to Red Lake a couple of summers ago. Great place, and you're correct not too many people know. We also went to Strawberry Lake too.

Sorry about the tank. Does this mean you are contemplating more lift now?

:Mechanic: :)
