Tool requirements for FG140 / Canter 4x4 driveshaft

Note that to pull the drive shaft on a current generation Fuso FG 140 / Canter 4x4 you need two 17mm combination box end / open end wrenches.

Before you depart on an expedition, make sure you have two 17mm combo wrenches.

You will require both of them if you need to replace a U joint or access anything above the drive shaft.

Unfortunetly that is what it sounds like.

It probably went like this...

Not anything catastrophic.

You definately would not want to discover that with a blown U joint on Bolivia's road of death or meeting a Tata on a Himalayan pass or something similar.

I first learned it last July when I pulled the raw water tank out for its first rebuild, but I kept forgetting to post it.

I was reminded last week when I pulled it out down here in Chile for its second major rebuild.

And, I should mention that I am talking about the rear axle drive shaft.

I have not checked the front axle drive shaft to see what size wrench it requires or if you can get a socket down onto the nuts.
