Top End Rebuild, Worth It?

If you want simple bolt-on and go, I'd order a set of rebuilt heads from Clearwater Cylinder heads. Plenty of members have used them for their Monteros.

I endorse the above comment, as I have used them several times as well.

I would be really careful on the clearwater thing. At one point they were the go to place for heads, but I've seen a couple people lately having some issues with there work. If I just purchased a montero with 150k or 200k miles on it, I would say it's worth it to do the top end rebuild, so long as you have good compression. These motors should do well over 200k miles with the proper care and maintenance being done, that and don't over heat the thing. Keep the fluids fresh and flowing properly.
