Topper designed for Std Cab Tacoma on an XtraCab?

I have opportunity to buy a used high-rise glasstite topper for a very good price. The problem is that it was on a 99 std cab tacoma. I have an 03 XtraCab. I understand there will be a gap where the topper and the back of the cab meets. How big of a gap should I expect? Anyone have an example of this in picture? The seller is about 2 hours away so I'd rather make up my mind before deciding to drive out there. Thanks.

Nope, they are different. The cab on the x-cab is about 1-1/2 inches higher, and the rear of the cab is a different angle from vertical.

IIRC, the rear glass in the cab is a different height too, so the window in the cap may not line up with the window in the cab. Not sure, It has been a while since I had one like that.

Recap: the $75 cap should fit, but won't "look" right.

ETA: The feet and crossbars are worth $75...resell the cap eventually and get one that fits later. You might find you don't like a cap at all after installing it.

ETA again...I just noticed it is a high-rise cap, so only the cab angle will be noticeable.

Thanks for the info guys..

Did the drive from Elgin, IL to Madison, WI yesterday. Beautiful drive thru S. Wisconsin's hilly farm land. The seller had the topper pulled out of the barn when I got there. It was in very good condition and just a little bit rust on the locking mechanism (unlike many of the other used toppers in this area).

Put it on the Tacoma and it fits very well. The old foam at the bottom of the topper no longer provides a tight seal so I might get the topper professionally sealed at a truck shop. (hopefully it won't be too costly).

Martinjmpr: The topper actually looks just like the high-rise you had on your old Tacoma.

How do I wire the high-mounted brake light? The topper has a connector on the wire, do I need to plug it into some sort of harness and splice it into the existing wires? The inside doesn't have carpet lining. How feasible would it be to line it myself?

Will post pictures after I get it cleaned up.

You can get "camper tape" at Lowe's or other similar stores for about $6 and do it yourself. All you need is a friend (or 2) to help you place the shell on the truck after you put the tape on (for obvious reasons you don't want to slide it.)

Hmm ok assuming the bottom lip of the topper is no longer straight, Sticking a new layer of tape won't fill the gap.. Is there some sort of spray-in foam/insulation that I can inject into the gap?

I'm 99% sure they are not even close.
