Torsion Axle Shortening

Hey there, I've been looking around on here and don't think I came across anything addressing this explicitly.

I'm looking at a torsion axle stating that it's 57in "outside frame". My project frame is exactly 50in, outside to outside. I know that the crossmember on the torsion frame is hollow so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience chopping a section out of that crossmember to achieve a custom length torsion axle?

Thanks all.

I know they say no welding on the tube, so no clue.

I would assume if you cut it with a saw and then bolted it together it might work but I would not trust it

probably have rubber inserts at the ends with a hollow middle section. I guess you'd be best to cut a section out of the middle. If you cut into rubber you know you are hooped.
