Towing an M416 behind a Tacoma?

Anyone done this before? I'm building my own trailer and I've taken a liking to fiberglass M416 tubs to cut down on weight (my metal tub designs easily weigh in close to 300-400 lbs, where the fiberglass is about 50). If I did go with an M416 tub I'd have to go with a narrower track trailer and I question how well it will track behind the wider wheelbase tacoma. Anyone have input on this? Maybe this is a non-issue and I'm just overthinking it.

Towing something 400lb+ behind the Tacoma is cake. It won't even feel like it's there.

I have a Tacoma and have a SoCal Teardrop and I can barely tell it's there unless I'm braking, and that's only cuz I don't have the brake controller installed yet. The TD weighs a bit more than a M416.

X2. I tow a 2200 pound pop up and my 4Runner still flies and returned at least 15 mpg if not more.

Thanks guys, I'm not concerned with weight, its the wheelbase differences that concern me. That being said the more research I do the less I worry, just had to ask to reconfirm my suspicions.

Scott Brady and the expeditions west crew outfitted an Adventure trailers Chaser and towed it for several trips behind a first gen double cab Tacoma.

Track width is not a big issue on road. Off road or in snow it is best to Mach the tow vehical. This is why the military created trailers to match the vehicals that tow them. Wheel base will affect backing up. A very short trailer and a somewhat long truck can be a headache for us not so good at backing up a trailer.

I tow a CDN M101 (Canadian version of the 416) behind my 04 Rubicon with not issues. Although clunking and noisy, the pintle/lunette hitch works great offroad and the trailer tracks like a champ both on and off road. I assume you would go with a multi-axis type hitch. As said above, the short trailer can be a pain in the butt backing. Just take it real slow and practice, practice, practice.

We tow an M416 with original axle and adapters to accept stock Taco tires behind our 2012 Taco double cab. No tracking issues. This picture still shows old jeep tires.
