SWITAWI
Doesn't Get Out Enough
Wow. I think I can actually contribute to this one... :wings:
I towed the same exact trailer back in Oct with my FJ. That galvanized sucker is surprisingly heavy for it's size and those tires were quite narrow. I'd start at street pressure with the option to lower it if needed, but mostly I'd be worried about the sand ruts being deep enough to start dragging the trailer. I seem to remember that U-Haul trailer riding pretty low. I just came back from about 35-40mi down Padre Island National Seashore on Sunday and some of the soft stuff had my stock FJ leaving a diff trail.
After getting up Sunday morning way down the PINS we drove back to New Braunfels and then up to Fort Sill in Oklahoma to pick up a friend's new M101A3. I'd say it's up to you to decide if the tires need airing down 'cause the Humvee 37x12.50s his trailer came with probably wouldn't. Jeez those things were big. I'll post up how I spent my weekend tomorrow...
Thanks for the tips. The trailer definitely has some pizza cutters!

Another question along these lines, Is it better to have a dual axle trailer for sand? Does the extra weight and drag negate the effect of a larger foot print? I would be curious to hear from people who have towed both on soft ground like sand.
I'm prepping an M101 and was expecting to lower the pressure in the trailer for sand.
