Towing with 2012 4runner

Hi guys, I'm usually on the cruiser page but had a question for anyone running a 2011-2012 4runner to tow. My father in law wants to trade in his Escalade for a new 4runner but his main concern is towing. He lives in Long Island and drives a lot to the eastern shore as well as Florida, he has had it easy with the Escalade but gas is a killer. Do you think a 4runner will pull his 3500# boat with ease or will it struggle?

I've pulled just over 2 tons in my 07 Tacoma 4.0 Auto from NY to MI, it was fine for 55-60. I say this because the '12 Runner got more power but more importantly bigger and better brakes..

It should be fine. We tow our boat with our Tacoma with no problems.
