Toyo tire prices!!!

Ok so I called my local Toyo dealer for a price on 33x10.5R15 MT's and was given a price of $315/tire (Canadian). This seems way out of line to me. What are toyo prices like in the US?

That's nothing. I paid $500 a piece last spring for my 37 13.5 17s. I'll be replacing two of them soon due to bad suspension engineering. With the stronger loonie they are down to $460 now.:yikes:

Tires are much cheaper in the USA then Canada. It's absolutely ridiculous and I know from speaking to family in the business that the profit is being made by either the wholesalers or the tire manufacturers (I suspect it's the greedy wholesalers).

If you do need to buy tires here, go to Costco. In most cases, other shops simply can't touch their prices. However if you want bigger sizes you will usually have to get them mounted somewhere else.

That size Toyo doesn't even show up on the US website. I do see it on the Canadian website. I wonder if a US dealer could get it.

I had a quote of $375/tire from a local retailer on 285/75r18s. I always try and support the Mom & Pops but it is simply too much when better alternatives exist at half the price albeit an inch smaller.

Yes, that price is negotiable, but I think Toyo's listing prices way too high, it is leaving a bad price image in our minds.

FWIW, here's pricing from the local Mom & Pop store. Unfortunately, they can't get the Canadian 33x10.5R15 size. These prices are for a set of 4 and including our 8.25% sales tax.

Toyo MT
33x10.50R15LT (CAN NOT GET)
LT255/85R16 $1100 INSTALLED
LT285/75R16 $1150 INSTALLED

Well I don't like the higher prices any more than anyone else. But you gotta believe prices are not going down anytime soon if ever with: The high price for oil and Toyo's come from Japan...where the US $ just doesn't go as far (and fuel to move the ship costs more ;-).

Local shop quoted me $1500 installed for the 285/75-18 MT's.

If you want to save money (though not buy local), onlinetires.com quoted me $298/ea plus shipping of only $67. Total of $1260 for 4. The local tire shop charges me $90/set for the GSP9700 mount and balance.

Grand total of $1350 mounted and balanced.

If you go with their AT's. They have a similar construction (Plies, etc.). They are only $205/ea.

Have you folks tried to two largest offroad parts retailers in the U.S. www.4wheelparts.com and www.desertrat.com Both do mail order and seem to be decent on prices on large offroad tires.

Can you folks in CA drive into the U.S. on scrap tires, get them changed out here and drive back on the new ones? People in Mexico do it all day long here in AZ. The drive over the border with a stock vehicle, leave it an one of the off road shops in the border down, get a lift, tires/wheels, winch etc installed, drive it back across the border and sell the parts. Then drive it back over stock the next week and do the same thing. Over and over.

The best place for tires online is tirerack.com. Very good prices and ships fast. I bought 2 sets of tires from them.

No, I would never do that! That would be illegal! It's my duty as a Canadian citizen to stop at the border and declare all purchases so I can pay my taxes on them. :victory:
