Toyota Chinook

Yup! I was going to do that for sure, probably come up with some sort of rubber boot? Are you a jumper by chance?

Java- It looks like I'm going to put a Toyota solid front axle on the front, then look around for the Dana rear axle with lockers, then throw some 31's on it for now. I just need the clearance. I'll check out the trail gear stuff.

Blazer- Thanks for the heads up! Ideally, I'd find a Wolverine conversion that I could swap over onto my pickup and get everything I need that way.

I've been fixing up some of the paneling on the interior, and getting it ready for a trip to California. Down the road (in a few years) I'll be looking at swapping over the '77 pickup for a '85 Hilux 4x4.

Thanks for all the help everyone

If you are putting in a toyota front axle you might as well do toyota rear axle to make them match. If you use an 85 or earlier they will have the same width as the front (also same differential). I live part time in Boise and have lots of the parts you need for the adventure you are about to start, we should talk. I would love to check out that chinook, I have always lusted after them.

Remeber to keep it simple, these trucks have been going strong for 30 years and no one told them they didnt have the "right" bumper or thing-a-ma-giggy (did I spell that correctly?)
