This super low mile, around 6,000 original miles to be exact, absolutely immaculate example of a vintage FJ62 is equipped with a pto driven pump system making it a fully functional fire truck. Everything works, from the PTO driven pump to the lights, sirens, and PA. It even comes with hoses and nozzles and other original firefighting equipment. It is equipped with the venerable H55f 5-speed transmission and equally stout 3F inline-6 engine.
We’ve done our best to leave it as the original builders had intended, with some upgrades to make it driveable. Originally, it was equipped with steel split-rim wheels and narrow bias ply tires. We’ve installed modern wheels, custom powder coated to match, and BFG All-Terrains in 33x10.5x15. The original wheels and tires are included with the sale.
The original shocks, though low mileage, needed to be replaced; we installed KYB MonoMax in their place. Under the hood we replaced the water pump, thermostat, belts and hoses. We’ve even installed a brand new radiator to keep things cool (not pictured). The original batteries have been replaced with brand new Interstate batteries, each with a 30-month warranty. All filters and fluids have been changed as well. Additionally, we’ve done a few things around the vehicle to make it more practical while still keeping that vintage fire truck feel.
Some folks have turned these fire trucks into overland rigs by removing the pump system and installing a flatbed, while others have retained the functionality and used them in remote or rugged places prone to fire, think timber, winery, etc. Still others have enjoyed the character and charm of these vehicles, and have kept them as collector cars to use in parades or events.
Given the demand for the fj62 platform and the rarity of this vehicle, we are inclined to suggest the latter, but it's your world.
