I was just driving back to Phoenix on Sat after doing harquhala mountain and I ran into the Toyota Proving grounds just outside Phoenix. Talk about a great place to have a job!
Anyone ever been inside? Work there?

I have the map of it from google on my site, but I'm not savy enough to post it here.
It's directly south of Wickenburg... HUGE facility with a double ring of fences with barb wire around it. The fences are what seems like a mile from the track so you can't hear or see anything!
DOH!

I live about 5 miles from there.. I've been fortunate enough to see many wrapped vehicles go by the homestead.. The drive the cars by almost daily. They're testing it looks like the new sequoia right now been "wrapped". The newer vechiles usually are convoyed.. It's really fun when they have the trailer tests.. Plus I get to see the Toyota racing truck at least once a week go by.. It's in Maricopa County/Yavapai county off of Patton Rd. Take Patton till it ends then head northwest... Wittmann Area.

They must head through Wickenburg? Too many prying eyes in Phoenix!

I applied as a suspension engineer there right out of college, but I didn't have the experience they were looking for. Then I realized I would have to live in Wickenberg.

I'll get in there next year probably.

I have seen the chrysler proving grounds by whittmann, that is a cool place.

they have a 3 mile track that has a "neutral steering 80 mph lane" meaning, you can set the cruise at 80 and take your hands off the wheel while the vehicle goes around the track.

The guy who was my "escort" was driving a european grand cherokee. it was pretty cool

Chrysler proving is still in operation. They sold the land and are leasing it back.

Before the let me in the main shop I had to wait while they covered up a few cars.

I think most of the Auto makers are following Caterpillar to Hermosillo for hot weather testing.

Cool. I was wondering about that. With the market as it is I'm sure the home builder that bought it is HAPPY to lease it back and wait to build for a few years! :arabia:
