Toyota in a major Mea Culpa admitted it had dropped the ball on the development of EV’s and needed to pick up the pace here. So in response to their own admission of slacking, they’ve come out with this teaser. It’s a “cute” looking (sorry, but I had to admit that), cool Little EV SUV concept.

You might also say its looks are somewhat reminiscent of a shrunken FJ ? perhaps:

Tentatively badged as the Compact Cruiser concept in December 2021 when Toyota publicly promised to release lots more fully-electric vehicles by 2030, this sweet looking little Toy recently won a 2022 Car Design Award, held at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, Italy. This impressive accolade encouraged Toyota to release more photos to the press, obviously to increase consumer salivation levels! They should have included a Toyota emblem stenciled napkin with their press releases of this, no?

What do you guys think? With high gas prices maybe a new standard in our lives, would this be a great addition to your stable for the missus and or driving age kiddies? If enough folks send Toyota their Please Do It vote, members this will become a reality. If it’s flat towable, heck, I’d def want one for meself ?

Of course, the elephant in the room is whether we’ll actually ever see something like this. But because (to me and others) it looks like it could be targeting the hot new Bronco market, maybe the one upsmanship of coming out swinging the battery powered bat for a new mini UTE may be the tip off that, Yes!, Yes!, Yes!, we will get to bid on these someday in the not to distant future?

Here are some links with more info:

I am super interested in the compact cruiser but not for the "missus and or driving age kiddies" but for my adventure rig. I've been trying to go smaller and more efficient than my Tacoma for years but haven't pulled the trigger on a Crosstrek or similar in hopes that something like this would come along. We'll see what comes of it but I've ruled out buying anything that gets sub 30 MPG and would love to move on to a plug-in hybrid or full EV if it has decent off-road chops.
