Toyota Tacoma/4runner rear axle in Nissan pickup?

Hey guys!

I'm looking to get some sort of traction aid for my '89 Nissan pickup. I'd love to put an ARB air locker in it, but really don't have that kind of cash laying around.

So here's my idea... Would it be possible to put a E-locker equipt rear axle out of a Tacoma or 4-Runner from the junkyard under my pickup? The axle widths are very similar (Toyota: 60.75" Nissan: 59"), and both have the same bolt pattern.

I'm just doing some more research, and any info would be very much appreciated!

Thanks everybody!!

Custom driveshaft, probably have to change out spring perches, adapt E-brake and brake lines - It all coats time and money and you end up with a Frankenstein at best.
Save your money for the locker.

I love my E-locker. There will be time involved with setting up the elocker controls circuit (diagrams have been created for this already) and you will need to make sure you can get matching gear ratios if your nissan is 4x4.

I've thought about putting an elocker in my 88 4runner because of the reliability and traction it offers over the cost of ARB lockers.

Rust does a body good.
That doesn't make sense to me. You'll probably break even with all the nickel and dime'ing that'll happen. Also I'm pretty sure you have a stronger axle in there already.
