Trail Preparation on your LR

What do you do to prepare your Land Rover for a fun trail run?

I'm doing it for the first time this weekend and what are the things to do beforehand/after so that the LR will survive after?

The one big thing I have in mind is a spray wash after a mud run to get the gunk out of the chassis.

Any tips and recommendations are encouraged!

I spray down the entire underneath with WD-40. Helps with cleaning up afterwards.

Typically I do a full check. All fluids and tires. Check the air filter and clean if required. A couple days beforehand I drive the truck. A couple of around town trips and to work every once in a while. My 109 isn't my DD so it ends up sitting a lot. Driving it and driving it at fast speeds simply helps me gain confidence in the truck again. This isn't applicable to those who DD their vehicles.

Before the day of my trip, my truck is gassed up, pretty much packed up, and door tops off if applicable.

Right now I am fortunate that except for some leaks, my rover is in pretty good shape.

Yep, my Rangie sits a fair amount as well so also drive it in various conditions to at least get a good feeling on it a few days before a trip.

X2 on this... makes all the difference in the world, especially if you have thick goopy mud.

Other than carrying spares I don't really prep it any differently than I would to keep it road worthy.

Thanks, all. Definitely used the WD40 advice and all the mud wicked off from yesterday. Made the pressure wash job a breeze!

I'll definitely be on the prowl for a big pail. I sprayed only a bit but the cans will add up quick!

Lets just say when they go on sale, I stock up.

Usually it ends up being cheaper and easier than blowing $15 at the coin car wash. Instead I just blow $4.

Continuing on with preparation, a lenghty discussion regarding recovery points came up.

In a Series, jate rings aren't applicable so I have no idea where to put front and rear recovery points. I was thinking of a recovery hitch to attach at the trailer hitch in the back but are there better options?
