Trailer cover costs

So, I am looking into getting a local fab shop to weld together a cover for my M101CDN.

Here's my question to you who contracted others to fab your covers- What did it cost?

I am thinking for a 1"x1" square tubing around the rim, plus 3 1"x1" square crossbars and a 14ga top, all steel, it should run me appx $300.

Am I way off? High? Low? What did your cover cost?


I basically want to know what I should expect going in... Don't want to get taken advantage of and all...

Not too far off, material is about $430.00 if you use USA steel, fab shop 3 hours @ $85.00 per hour. Gas Shocks $80.00 from McMasterCarr.com. Build it for a rooftop tent at about 200 pouinds JIm

Mine is costing me $250.00. Great price but I've been waiting 4 weeks now.... I'm supposed to get it this week and I'll post some pics.

1" square tube, 7" tall lid of 14g bent up to match the lines of the tub.

well, went to a local fab shop... Estimate "not to exceed" $190!

I said start welding.

It will be the basic for now. 1"x1" tubing around the edges, w/ two cross members for support. 1/8" steel sheeting across the top.

Eventually I will have a secondary rack/cage on top for the RTT mounting and firewood storage. Like bmonday's trailer-

So, $216 after sales tax, I have a cover. They also sold me some piano hinge when I picked it up, and I got $6 worth of bolts/nuts to install later.

Next on list-
Prime, Paint, install hinge, figure out a type of clamp system and lock... hopefully it will take a day or two and this will be one more piece completed.
