Trailer shipping/shipper recommendations...cross country

Does anyone have any shipper recommendations for transporting a trailer cross country? Any leads appreciated!

Thanks!

Looked into this a few times and it is ridiculously expensive. At least 2x the cost of shipping your truck. When I was considering buying a trailer across country I was going to just ship my truck out and use it as an excuse for a nice little adventure/road trip.

Like a Chaser trailer...CO area, headed to GA. Not palletized, so I assume it can't go LTL freight. Less than 10ft. in length.

Check out uShip... you essentially put your shipment up for bid and then pick who you want to use from the bids. If you don't like any of the bids you can relist the shipment or use a different company.

I've used it before and the winning bid for my shipment was 1/3 of the normal quotes. Someone already had a truck heading out and towed the trailer with them. The cost for a 900 mile delivery was about $300 in tow, or $400 to trailer the trailer.

I have it on UShip right now, but no takers. The company I called wanted $1500 (not UShip), but the Colorado Springs/Denver area is a "dead spot" per brokers and transport companies. The load program shows no pickups in that area for a 100 mile radius. Not good.. I figured $500 - $800 would get it here...but I have a pickup time constraint for the end of this week. Thanks for taking the time to reply Xrunner.

I visit Atlanta at thanksgiving ... usually fly into Atlanta from Denver but I would drive a rented truck and bring your trailer to you .... just a thought .... Matt

Happy to help out. Does your listing have a few photos and detailed size/weight/etc of the trailer? I found those to be key to getting good bids.

Hey Matt,

That's a very generous offer just for considering to do that....thank you! I would like to have it here for the summer, but if I can't get a shipper under $1500 that can pick it up before the 24th, I will have to let the next party in line take it...as he is local and can drive to pick it up. The seller is giving me first rights since I pm'd him first, but I don't want him to miss out on a local sale. I'm hoping something will work out. Thanks again for the offer!

Hey Xrunner....yes to the photos and details. I posted a photo of the trailer, the exact dimensions and weight. The seller is having a hard time finding a loading dock in his area. He located a vacant ramp that may work. I have a local company/friend that may try to put a load together so he can pick it up, but again...the time constraint may make it hard. If it was palletized and there was a fork-lift to be used, things would be different and much more affordable...but logistics is the hard part sometimes. The last loading dock I used to receive my Eezi Awn made me fill out paperwork, sign, etc. just for liability purposes. Not all facilities are willing to accommodate another person's private shipments. If I can't get something together today, I'll regretfully have to pass on a nice trailer.

You can also use a flatbed wrecker (tow truck) in place of a dock if they are up for some creativity. :sombrero:

I had all but given up but I just received a U-Ship quote that is more than fair! I'll advise once I can determine whether the logistics/timing of pick-up and loading will happen. U-Ship might just come through for me after all.

If it was going from Atlanta to Colorado I could have helped you out, as I'm headed out west next month :safari-rig:
