It's was a lot of fun. I wish we could do the entire trail at one time. It will prob take us a couple years to do the whole thing.

Thats awesome. A group of friends and I just got the NC to MS this fall. Problem is we are all young people with not much of a budget to outfit our vehicles. So far the list of vehiclsis a Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, subaru forester, and dodge 2500.

Any parts of the trail that were really tight or require 4x4? Seems like most of it could be done in 2wd. Just trying to gauge what we are getting into.

I'm not sure about the NC and most of the MS section. As for the TN, you shouldn't have any issues at all. I only put it in 4 wheel drive one time and I didn't really have to. It was at a big water crossing and I did it just to be on the safe side. The forester might have a clearance issue at that big water crossing if it rains. Besides that, you will be fine.
