First, many thanks to Redline, and most honorable mention to 24HOURSOFNEVADA for helping me make my decision on tires & wheels.

Paint color was a no-brainer after seeing this:
Beige464FJ80.jpg

That's "464 Beige". My original "4K1" was shot. Clearcoat was so bad the primer was showing through and I was starting to get some rust on the edges of the doors, tailgate etc.

Tires: I know some people need tires and they do about 30 minutes of research and go buy some tires. Not me. For me to throw over $1000 at something I'm going to be stuck with for a couple of years, and that has my family's safety riding on them, I do a LOT of research. As Redline said, "We had a lot of fun beating it to death!"

I finally decided on a set of LT255/85R16 Toyo M/T's. Also went with a set of OEM 70 Series Land Cruiser steelies to replace the cheapo steelies I had on it. Finally she looks "just right"!... Give her a week and she'll have some "desert pin-striping" and a nice patina of dust and grime to augment her natural beauty. If she continues to perform as good as she looks, I'm a happy boy! :)

Here's what she looked like when I bought her.

Here's what she looked like a month ago, in the middle of my "$600 paint job" prep:

And here's what she looks like now:

I love these wheels!

Backspacing is perfect for going flareless.

That is sweet! I love the paint, and if I ever get another 80 or 100 series...I'll do the same!

Nice! Great tire & wheel combo.

Best thing about that color? No pantina of visible dust.

I'm one of those guys that washes a truck about twice a year, whether it needs it or not. So maybe my subconscious knew that 464 or 416 beige was the way to go.

I think you need to do the poptop....doesn't look that hard! Made out of aluminum would make it strong and lightweight...

You're making me wonder about ever selling my FJ80...

No way. I couldn't bring myself to start SAWING the frickin' roof off! :yikes:

The only other thing I can envision is an ARB roo bar and MAYBE some day a rear bumper with a tire carrier and a jerrycan holder... No rooftop tents, refrigerators, cargo drawers, or any of that stuff. Don't get me wrong, all that stuff is cool, but I'm too much of a tightwad to spend that much money on stuff that I'd only use about once a year.

I have to justify all this stuff to the wife, after all.

I just need a bigger garage....:snorkel:

ashooter, looks nice! I was contemplating that exact tire/wheel combo for my 70. Do you have the wheel specs including the backspacing?

Good choice on the color.

Any idea what size of tires the pop-top LC has on it?
They look like Michelin XZL's in 9.00R16 which are 36.4"x9.9"
