Very neat electrical work! Also, thank you for not mounting the wood floor to the metal van floor with a brazilian self tapping screws. No way is that the right way to do that! Glueing it as you did is the way to go!

Finally got my electric elevator bed done

this took me quite a bit of time and what seemed like a lot of welding, but i did a couple customer welding projects during this as well so i was actually ready to put away the torches when i was finished. includes probably way over built structure in the roof to support the whole thing

so this is the center section of the EAST/WEST bed, there will be 2 narrow fixed sections on each side (back of a dinette) to give me 75" long x 57 wide. im 5'10" and can walk under it still. great way to maximize space. as for the mechanism--i have to keep a couple of my secrets.....motor, bearings and strap.....

Fishing is life. The rest is details.
Oh man, that’s awesome! I’ve seen people do them with hydraulic actuators mounted to the floor, but hanging it from the ceiling frees up so much space. Beautiful job too, your finish quality is top notch. This is what happens when a pro builds something for himself. Kudos.

thank you for documenting your build, amazing work. I am waiting for the same transit. I have a bunch of questions but will wait to see future posts.

cheers

no matter how fancy you try to be, sometimes you just have to revert back to CAD (cardboard aided design).

it was hurting my head trying to figure out all the dimensions and interactions between everything on the computer. still took a couple cardboard revisions....

What's the grey on the cabinet? Paint or vinyl covering?
high pressure laminate. grey on outside surfaces, white inside (because its 50% cheaper mostly, and brighter). for non visual areas, backer sheet because its dirt cheap but controls moisture/warp

big one done yesterday--lots of complexity. now onto plumbing/gas. give me a break from wood for a day or so that way-ha

Love the build and the fact that we live a couple of minutes away. I'm in Charlesbourg, just north of the city.

Please, get that underside of the van coated with some sort of rustproofing. It's soo beautiful! They don't stay that way long with the amount of salt they put on the road here...

real close, im technically in Wendake...the dealer tricked me into a free rust proofing when i bought the van--never again until post build. all i do is look at it and im cover head to toe in that sticky ********.
