Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
i have a 99 montero what trans fluid owners manual says ATF dexron 11
but reading alot about some other fluid

The atf that your owner's manual specs. is the 1999 version of mitsubishi atf.

The only atf to run in my opinion is mitsubishi diamond sp III (this is the 2016 version).

Here is what a quick search provided...

Not a bad value.
Be sure to do a complete flush, not merely a drain and fill.
I normally purchase a case and have some left over.

I called Mitsubishi dealer , and their service rep advised since it has 150K on it we don't recommend flush , just do drain and refill.

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
To add to newworld2004's statement you can also clean or replace the screen on the valve body as well.

You followed me, so now we're both lost
Ignore the dealer. Buy 10-12 quarts of diamond sp III and do a full flush and fluid change. The Aisin clutch packs in the transmission do best with fresh fluid. Flushing the system will cause the TCU to "relearn" the shifting parameters, but it should smooth out after a couple months. I have done this for both of my Gen 3 Monteros.

Follow the procedure below.
