Travel Electric Guitar

Anyone have any experience with travel/expedition electric guitars? Speedsters vs Austin Hatchet versus a host of others. We are leaving on a two year trip from California through Central and South America with long stops on beaches and are planning on doing a lot of recording while on the road. Curious whether the size and weight savings of the travel electrics are worth the probably costs in tone and playability etc?

These are very nice as they have a full 24 3/4 in scale. http://www.travelerguitar.com

I have the original "Ultra Light - Steel" model with piezo and it works well. Produces a reasonable sound via iPhone or guitar amp.

Same as my Strat, Heritage, or Ovation? No, but quite usable on the road.

'Bout a hundred years ago I had a Chiquita from Erlewine. It was awesome.

They make the Lazer too, which is another travel guitar. I've never tried one.

Only problem was, it was too light and would skate around all over the place. Pretty much HAD to use a strap with it.
