TRD SUpercharger for 4.5L engine 1FZ

Hey guys, I bought a TRD supercharger for a friend of mine, about 6 or 7 years ago. He was going to buy a 4.5 engine 80 series.

In the meantime he bought a 70 series, then a FJ cruiser and now a Mitsubishi Evolution. He kept the charger for his future 80 series buy he realized now that day may never come. He tried to installed it on the 70 series carb but never worked. He needed the EFI version.

I remember the charger was something like 4K at the time. I don't think they make them anymore, so it is kind of a hard to get item.

How much do you think it is worth? Should he posted on the forums like expoportal, IH8mud and others? or do you think EBAY would be better?

Thanks for the ideas

They did temporarily discontonue them, but they are available again through Toyota. Is it new in box? Which models does it fit? There were a couple of different install versions for the 1FZFE.

The re-release was a limited run of 100 units. According to CDan the last one was just sold the other day. The prices weren't all that high through Cdan and other vendors on this forum and the Mud board. I think they got down into the mid to high 2k range.

A quick search on 'Mud will reveal retail.

It's probably worth a little more now that they sold out again.

They aren't worth very much, and I hear they destroy your engine. It's a lot of boxes too, probably in your way a lot - taking up valuable space in your garage. Tell you what, send it to me and I'll take care of it for you.

Thank you for all your input. He paid close to 4K, so getting 2.5K seems like a big loss to him. He doesn't need the money, so I will advise him to keep it. He might be able to get his money back when these chargers are out of the market in a few years. But then again, a whole 80series will cost about the same, so I doubt people will pay the same for a supercharger than for the whole truck.

Thanks guys !

I'm sure he'll be able to get pretty close to his money out of it at some point, if he's ok to hang onto it.

Also, as an Evo owner, I'm pretty sure he's stoked about his Evolution. For me it has been hard to want to drive anything else besides the Evo. Great car.

Does he want to sell me his 70 Series by any chance???

And I agree with the above poster, I am currently looking at an EVO 9 with some goodies on it ;)
Sorry for the OT convo :D

Cheers

Ok guys, I think you got it all wrong, you deserve some more info.

The EVO I mentioned is not a car, it is a race version of the Montero. It has a 3.5L Mivec engine and race ready suspension.

It is super fast. They were only made in RIHD I think, he had to convert his to LHD. Here is a picture I took last year at a local race.

And sorry, he already sold his 70 series.

I saw one of those EVO's for the first time in New Zealand and was thrown off by the name too. Looks like a cool little toy.

AH... It's the Race version of the Pajero... I see, either way, that's a fast Mitsu eh ;)
