TRD Supercharger on a '10 V6 Tacoma

Well folks, 1st I apologize for my incorrect assumptions in earlier posts regarding taco engine vs FJ. And it still looks like TRD does NOT offer a s/c for either the Taco or FJ for 2010 model vehicles on their website. Not sure what might be diff between years but there's gotta be differences in the 2 vehicle models under the hood or they'd use same parts for both - which they don't.
Only s/c for Taco is old 3.4 engine model and 2007-2008 1GR - nothing listed for 2010 model yet.

I'll make an earnest effort to be more thorough in my researching before posting in future...

An alternative would be the URD Rotax s/c from URD but it's a centrifugal comp. and has driving characteristics more turbo like - ie less power down low, more power top end which I personally don't like for trucks myself.

That's a relief, you had me worried there.

And in my experience, parts often aren't updated to reflect new years of a model. For instance, when I asked if the Factory Roof Rack could be applied after I ordered the car, they said there wasn't one available for the 2010.

And I am 99.99% sure Toyota hasn't changed the Roof since 2005.

As for everything else, I'm taking the truck in tuesday morning. We'll see if there's a problem at that juncture.

ahh I get a kick out of you 05 Taco guys complaining about power.
My 02 4 door, skids, bumpers, sliders, winch, canopy, roof rack, etc is bone stock under the hood and it isnt that bad...

My truck is decent on power, but
#1 the speed limit here is 75mph, and if you don't go that you run the risk of being run over.
#2 The lowest I go is 7000 feet above sea level, I regularly go up to 10,000 or higher. a NA engine just can't suck in enough air on its own to compensate for the lack of air density.

#3 My other vehicles include a Twin-turbocharged coupe with 380hp/421 tq, an 800cc Sportbike, and my friend's 510-HP Gallardo that he lets me drive occasionally.
I'm a little bit hooked on speed :coffeedrink:

Speed here is 110km/h but everyone does 120+.
7000ft is pretty F'n high up, thats a valid point.
3. twin turbo'd, what type of car?
800cc bike? odd size, who makes that as well?
That Lambo would be a pretty slick car. Costs way too much money though. Maybe I just think that because I dont make enough to afford one :D

I live in Edmonton Alberta man this place is packed with big diesel pickups that are faster than most cars. Not worth the money as you still get something that handles like a bag of **** and wasnt ever supposed to go that fast. I was at the strip last week and watch a 3/4 ton Dodge Cummins click off a 10.4 and you couldnt even hear it idling!
A bit off topic as a TRD SC really isnt going overboard and if I could I probably would put one on too ;)
I sold my modded 05 Frontier for my Taco and lost over 100hp and torque in the process. It stung a bit but now it keeps me away from the cops and from breaking truck parts.

Car is a Dinan S1 upgraded BMW 335i. It is, without a doubt, the best car I have ever driven. It can pin you in your seat at 70mph in sixth gear.

The bike is a Honda VFR-800 Interceptor. It's a V4 bike with Vtec, which is really odd to have in a motorcycle. It's loads faster than I'll probably ever be willing to go, without having the unforgiving suspension geometries of the Race-Rep bikes.

And I definitely agree that the lambo is overpriced, but it's still insane to drive.

Look at me derailing my own topic. For shame. I'll post back here once I get it installed and/or any hiccups occur.

hahaha sorry for being the sidekick in the derail.
One of the guys I work with just got a 335i, definately a sick sick car. Pretty damn good price for what you get too.

I love the Interceptors, my dad had the 750 back in the early 90's, and I worked on a couple of the new ones when I worked @ the shop 5 or so years ago. Super comfy with good power. I loved my gixxer but being 6'2" I couldnt ride it for longer than an hour at a time. As much as it pains me to use this phrase for a Honda bike, the Interceptor was like a Cadillac to ride!

Update:

The fit kit worked fine. HOWEVER, apparently my truck was equipped with the recall-modified ECU, and TRD does not have an ECU calibration available for that unit. Since driving it would mean running very lean and overheating the engine, it's staying at the dealership until the calibration becomes available, which TRD says will happen "by september."

I'd be upset, except I'm heading back to Illinois, and was going to leave the truck here in NM anyway, so really I'm not out anything.

But of course, I got to see it with the shiny supercharger on top of the engine, and then I didn't get to drive it home, which was just cruel. :)

If you're wondering, if your truck was produced on or after 6/10/2010, you have this brake/throttle override ECU.

Yeah I was going to go get the pedal/brake override recall done just for the benefit of the improved shifting. Then I read on tacomaworld.com that if you have it done you can't get a s/c. I'm hoping they resolve this issue, because I would really like the improved shifting provided by the flash and I would like the s/c. But until they resolve this issue I won't be pulling the trigger on either one.
