The Gerber head is NOT stainless steel. It is forged and also has a PTFE coating which greatly reduces friction.

I love mine.

Yeah, these are great, same design and ideas as the Fiskars axe that I chopped so much firewood with last weekend... I've got the hatchet version and have used it for years.

Anyone find a sheath that works on these? They don't really come with one, mine didn't. Just the plastic piece that they hang on the shelf, but no actual sheath.

I have the Fiskars (Parent company of Gerber) and I just cut the hanger part off and left the plastic sheath on. It is not a true sheath, but I've had it in or mount on one vehicle or another for the last 7 years.

Good call. That should help it fit in my drawers better too. That sounded wrong...

If you are going to try to fit it in yer drawers, I definately suggest keep that plastic case on it...:sombrero:
