TreeHugger 100 Series Build

Picked up an already well set-up 100 back in Feb, figure I might as well document my continued build.

As it sits today, the truck is on an OME suspension, Slee sliders and belly skid, TJM front bumper, Engo 10k winch, 285 Goodyear Duratracs.

Took it out on a family camping trip this weekend, explored some Forest Service roads, and decided that my next 2 additions will be a full size spare and a roof rack.

A couple pics from this weekend ...

Great looking cruiser! Already a well built truck that is capable to doing a ton of cool camping. I look forward to watching your next additions.

Nice! Mine is the same color, suspension and tire size, although this time we put BFGs on it. They are great rigs! Do you have the factory locker? Mine does (it's a '99). I'm still trying to decide on which bumper to go with, but it's not a major priority so I have time to look for the right deal.

Went ahead and blacked out the grill as well as trying something new with the hoop on my TJM front bumper. Tried out the DupliColor Wheel Paint in Graphite for the hoop and a Satin Black rattle can on the grill.

Not sure how I feel about the hoop yet. May just go back to black.

Also got to spend some quality time out enjoying Colorado this past weekend. We camped at Big South, in the Poudre Canyon outside of Fort Collins and did a little exploring ...

Watching a storm roll in near Rand, CO. It was 84* when we left camp, as the storm rolled in and we went over Cameron Pass on the way back it dropped to 46*.

Finally got around to installing my Midland 75-822 CB and Firestick antenna using a Labrak mount.

Super straight forward mounting of the Labrak, you just have to use the Fire Ring coax to get the cable to thread through correctly

I ran the coax inside the rear panel and up towards the rear driver side door, under the door sill, then under the driver seat into the center console. I wanted a clean install, which is why I went with this particular CB - it's 100% out of the way when not in use.

I removed the cig lighter and used that spot to mount up the jack for the coax. I was really hoping it would fit well in the whole left by the lighter, but the whole was too big. Headed to Home Depot and picked up some aluminum sheet and cut to fit with some tin snips. Drilled out the holes and sprayed with rattle can. It's not perfect, but from the driver seat it looks pretty damn good.

All set up, still need to head towards the highway and make sure it actually works.

Lastly, I used a LifeProof LifeActiv mount for mounting the CB to the dash. I originally used this to mount my phone (and still do) and figured I'd try it out for the CB as well - works like a champ. It's magnet based and you just twist to release, pretty slick.

Here is the base, attached to the blank on the dash - just attached with 3M adhesive tape.

Same for the other side of the mount, on the back of the CB here.

How is the wind noise with the Gamivit rack? Been looking at this vs LabRak.

It's not too bad, as long as you have the fairing. I had it for a while without the fairing, and it got pretty noisy. All that being said, it's the only full length rack I've experienced so nothing to compare to.
