A few of us met up yesterday and ran the Mud Springs Trail near Scottsdale, AZ. The trail had become significantly more washed out in places and overgrown in others since we were there last. Click the 1st picture to link to my trail report which includes videos and a sweet trail repair on post 4:

how does that thing work, just arcing the batteries through the stick?, I've seen trail welders but they are spendy, for the cost of two red tops it'd be worth it :)

We had to weld a spring mount back on at Lake Como on Mt Blanca in Colorado a few years back. Took 3 batteries to get enough amperage, 2 wouldn't hold and arc and 3 was to much but with careful distance and speed we got it done and it has held up to this day and the truck has seen some abuse.
After that I modified a Delco 17SI alternator for arc welding, I can control amperage by someone controlling the throttle. as I weld. It has been used a few times and does a descent job on suspension and cross-members that see a lot of stress.
