Triumph Tiger

Hello everyone, I am having a bit of a dilemma. I used to have a 1995 tiger and I loved it, when I sold it it had 51k miles on it. Fast forward 5 years and wife said I can get another dual sport type of motorcycle so naturally I thought another tiger. I just happen to work with a guy who is the second owner of a nice 2008 with a lot of extra's added on. It has 14k miles and runs great. I just got back from a couple hour ride. This would be mostly a commuter and weekend get away touring bike maybe some fire roads. Anyway is there any bike's out there in the $7500. range that are comparable to the tiger? Figured I would ask the experts.
P.S. I have been riding street bikes for 20 years and used to do track days. I also ride a 450 dirt bike so this is not going to be for that. Just giving a little insight. Here is the bike in question. Thanks for your opinion's.

Thank You

comparable too? that depends,,,,, since your leaning to street with occasional easy dirt, you cant really go wrong with any of the big bikes but none of them give that sweet triumph triple. sounds like it will be a real good fit for you.

The Suzuki V-Strom 1000 is the most direct comparison. There's not too much excitement about the big V-Strom these days, but it's still a well-regarded bike. Probably most riders would give the edge to the Tiger for the splendid engine.

I suppose that the Ducati Multistrada deserves consideration . . . though sort of conceptually different, you would use them for the same things.

You may have already done so, but it's probably worth going to the Flea Market at ADVRider.com to see if you find any of the weirder stuff (Aprilia Caponord, Moto Guzzi Norge, etc.) particularly appealing.

Also, it's not in the price range because it's new, but there's apparently going to be a new 1000cc Suzuki V-Strom that appears to be kind of Tiger-like in concept and might come in at a reasonable price:

Nothing wrong with the Tiger 1050 though. Lots of nice reviews.

It depends
but I had old 955 tiger and loved it but to big and heavy to put on camper rack. I swaped it for a KTM 950 sm its light fast but more like a dirt bike in that it is very basic, it is however very good at what it does!
Oh and great fun never had a twin before but I do like the engines grunt.

I have looked at the KTM. I do like it but not to up on how they hold together long term ie motor. Also seat looks like my dirt bike, not something I would want to spend a lot of hours on but I maybe wrong. Ktm is also out of my price range from what I have seen, it is the only other one I was considering. I like the motor in the suzuki, but I would be afraid to take it on a fire road. I am not saying it's a bad bike just not what I am looking for in it's current form. I think I have answered my own question. Thank you guys just needed that extra push.
