Here's another view of the Troller Pantanal

I read that Troller is very small specialty builder. They
also offer a small plastic 4x4 designed to look like a Jeep.
The diesel engine is a 3.0L 4 cylinder from International,
and it's used in Toller's Jeep and pickup models.

I don't have a problem with the plastic fenders and cab.
No rust, no dings. Might want to add a roll cage, however!

I think there is a market in USA for a simple, economical
work vehicle like the Pantanal. Too bad it would cost so
much to bring the Pantanal up to USA safety and emissions
standards.

Let's hope that Mahindra USA can import their diesel pickup
from India at a reasonable price.

I went out to the Pantanal website and downloaded the brochure. Babble fished it to translate the capacities from Portuguese to English.

Here's another photo of the Pantanal that shows it's
a "full size" pickup

overall length 209"
wheelbase 132"
width 77"
height 79"
curb weight 5049 lb
cargo capacity 2668 lb

With these dimensions and capacities, the Pantanal is
similar to a Ford F250.

While we won't see the Pantanal's 3.0L 4 cylinder
International turbodiesel in a USA pickup, we can hope
that the 4.5L V6 diesels that Cummins, International and
GM have under develoment will show up in pickups soon.

Why can't we get those?

How come nobody but Jeep is offering a CRD? We need small efficient diesel power. The only small vehicles you can get them in are VW's and the Jeep Liberty. I think the government is afraid that we will all just get our fuel from McDonalds instead of buying their fancy taxed fossil fuel.:shakin:

No the real reason is that they won't pass our stringent emissions tests. I think even VW had to drop their diesel Jetta because it wouldn't pass the stricter 2009 emissions standards.

they are working on it.

VW dropped some of their diesels, but they are preparing to come back with more powerful and more efficient versions that will pass the tests. They will still be of no use to people looking for a mid-sized diesel suv.

Trollers are built tough, diesel engines, Dana 44s front and rear....

I have some Brazilian magazines here, they did an all Troller expedition to the uyuni Salt Flats this year, here's the one of the images.
