Trouble starting, HDC and Transmission codes

My 2006 (75,000 miles) started having trouble starting the last few days. Then it threw a HDC code. Then it threw a Transmission code. Then a check engine light. Changed the battery...VOILA....everything resolved. Apparently later LRs do not like any fluctuation in voltage (similar to serveral BMWs I have had). Anyone else experienced this? If you need a battery, I bought a BOSCH Platinum AGM at Pep Boys, 800CCA, 4 year free replacement, 96 month pro-rated, regular price 229.00. 35% off coupon online, 168.00 out the door. Not bad. Cheers

This is quite typical. I would have suggested a new Deka 9A49 AGM intimidator. Average with those green ones have been 2 years.

I think it comes from the factory with an H7 (my 2013 LR4 and 2006 Sport definitely did) but an H8 can be fitted as a more suitable alternative - it is only a bit longer and still fits without modifications on the battery tray.

Shoot, sorry, I screwed up and typed the number wrong. And evidently dyslexic. I edited the post. Also I have a 2nd battery-- My apologies. Here is a picture, the guys said this is the bigger one.

Very nice performance, I like the way it works. It's hard to compare to the original one, but easy to demonstrate
by charging / running comparison.

1 1/2 year old Interstate note the warping of the cover near right. Warranty -- DENIED-- I've purged myself of half my interstates at
this point, and only half 3 left. I wouldn't have minded the cosmetic issues, but it would not take a full charge, 12.4 volts tops, which
is borderline to the point where issues that the OP mentioned.

Side by Side, note the discoloration in the the case, as least Deka was smart enough to make theirs black.

See if you can spot the change in battery behavior.

I use a HAM Aprs unit to do it, that's the telemetry the RTG-50 will collect without additional sensors after you configure it right. Feel free to drop me a PM and I'll send you a link to my data, more info etc.

It's a neat side benefit to pull that data up and monitor what the solar is doing, etc.

You can see the trend of higher and higher charge voltage while the alternator attempts to charge the battery that does not take it. Then you see the follow on data, where they battery takes and keeps a charge, and a lot less is required to charge it and maintain a charge. The prior is wasted energy potential that could be used elsewhere when demanded if it is not wasted.

It would also be fair to say, that the OP should test his battery with a multimeter before running out and buying a battery but I'm pretty confident that's the issue.
