http://www.usrack.com/dual_rack.php . Need to be able to raise and lower the rack as i plan to use baja rack (maybe) , along with with tent like RTT (adventure trailers tents ) . Will i void the warranty if design a work around so that i may raise the rack / tent at night and lower when i'm on the road to get better gas mileage . thanks

Would be worth a phone call to their factory but my guess is once to drill, weld or cut anything they could get a little gruff about the warranty. Their warranty kind've implies you will only use it as specified. I would be most worried about the powder-coating if you had to cut, drill or weld on it but they don't warranty that as is.

What bother me the most is the lack of info on how much weight it can handle . I did send a email to them .

The installation video says the total capacity is 300lbs, but each crossbar is maxed out at 150 lbs of distributed load. It also says "No more than 100lbs should be concentrated on a length of 12" or less on either crossbar."

Doesn't sound terribly robust to me actually.....

In terms of use for a roof-top-tent and the 300 lb limit, it would be interesting to see what the manufacture has to say. A tent sans occupants is well under 300 lbs when its bouncing down the highway at 80mph, when the tent is loaded with two occupants (easily 500 lbs with some gear) its at a standstill. It seems many proven RTT mounting options have similar weight limits, so while I'll agree it doesn't seem terribly robust it could work great for a RTT?

I did hear from the ceo . He did confirm the 300 lbs . So do i call on Monday about how much weight when camping ? For wierd looking rack i've been looking at gorhino rack or thule . Gorhino web site does not work . However , it does have a 500lbs limit . But i don't see a way to raise or lower it . Buy a wind deflector for aerodynamic / gas mileage ?
