Hmmm. That carpet kit looks strangely familiar.

This is the DAC Mid-Size campertop tent that Campmor sells for about $110.

I've used this on my Element, though the tent is designed for an opening that is a bit wider and not as tall. I ended up adding a lower extension, made from gray poly tarp, to handle the greater opening height.

They make a version for SUVs/minivans, too, that is not dependent on having a lower drop-gate. Might work better on the Element since the drop gate is pretty small on that one.

I think one or two on EOC (Element forum) have tried the van version, though I don't recall the results. I eventually stopped using this tent because I have enough flat interior length (8+ ft) without opening the tailgate. This is especially true in shoulder season camping when I don't need much ventilation.

If I do need ventilation, I'll rig some sort of mosquito netting over the half open tailgate, held in place with clips and magnets.

Come to think of it the van version probably could be used with the lower tailgate up.

In buggy conditions, button magnets might come in handy with the DAC tent - use them to improve the seal of the tent against the truck sides.
