Trying to decide between PolyGuard Kinetic Recovery Rope and ARB 3 1/8 Recovery Strap

Hi guys,

I'm trying to get a good general purpose strap for recovery.

I've narrowed it down to two:

PolyGuard Kinetic Ropes on Billet 4x4

and

ARB ARB710US 3-1/8" x 30' Recovery Strap

Which one would you order and why?

ARB strap on cost alone. They do the same job, I carry the ARB and have been recovered by both. Kinetic rope seems to stretch a little more and may provide a little more tug but it simply isn't enough of a difference to justify the cost in my mind. Then again, this is ExPo and not everyone is as cost conscious as I am...

Strap! If you're not pulling out a "Wheeler" type, you may not have recovery points to take advantage of the kinetic property.

I have a strap and a kinetic rope.

Strap is good for low speed and "easy" pulls. Like over rocks and whatnot. Also a strap easily doubles as a tree strap.

However the kinetic rope is my new favorite. I used it a month or so ago to yank a F-150 of the snow. SSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOO much nicer than using a strap. No shock related to the pull.

You know, really, the stupid Smittybilt yellow tow strap works fantastically. I hate on it all the time because its smittybilt, but for a technical/easy recovery, its my go-to. Also doubles as my tree strap. It has like, no stretch in it which is nice (for when you need no stretch).

I had a REALLY nice 4x4 connection strap years ago. About 2x thicker than the Smittybilt one. Never found another one like it and 4x4 connection stopped selling them. So I've got the Smittybilt one...and it just works. I've pulled a couple of bogged mud trucks with it. No problem. Also they are cheap and available on amazon prime.

i like to pick up over one year old lifting straps at local industrial supply places. you can get a real lifting strap 4in and 20-30k lb rated for overhead (not breaking strength) for 20 or 30 bucks brand new. they can not be used in industry because they have "expired" and can not be retested.
