Thanks for the reply. I am already riding awfully low with just 400 lbs and myself in the truck. Toyota must figure no one will haul with the truck. I used to have a regular cab ranger that about as high with 600 lbs of field stone.

Yes, it rides nice while empty for the test drive. And if you just run around town with no weight it rides nice. But if you use it as a truck, it will need suspension work.

Jake, the bilsteins in the front (struts) will do fine. I am running 884's with the same struts up front and no issues so far. I have seen people snap the shafts on them but it is a very rare occurrence. I've used my truck pretty hard and not had any problems so far. However you may want to consider a pair of light racing or total chaos upper control arms. These will give you the ability to correct your alignment when you lift. My truck with just the 884's and no top spacers is a bit off.

Not absolutely necessary as I'm not running them, but something you might want.

TSB = Toyota Service Bulletin; it's kind of like a recall, but optional instead of mandatory. Currently there is a TSB for the suspensions of the '05 - '08 Tacomas that includes, among other things, replacement of the rear 3-leaf springs with a stronger 4-leaf spring that helps with the tendency of the rear end to bottom out and ride harshly.
