Tube doors and rain

Use a tarp when you're not driving or modify the stock door so you can just pull a pin and quick-change the doors back to stock

I also remember reading about a Toyota owner who made a set of half doors by cutting the stock ones down. He left the window frame intact and made a "window" that could be snapped in place

I run tube doors on my trail rig from about April until October regardless of the weather. I also always drive it to the trails rather than trailer it, so needless to say I get in plenty of rain. When you are going down the highway the aerodynamics (at least of my rig) keep most of the rain out, unless you are going slow with a cross wind. I generally don't wear any rain gear unless it's really bad. I'm now running Wet Okole seat covers (waterproof neoprene) so the seats don't get soggy and everything else in the cab is waterproof. When I park at night I stretch an ATV cover over the seat to keep it dry for morning.

First pic is wheeling in the rain with tube doors, but as you can see it's staying pretty dry in there. Second shows the truck parked at camp with the ATV cover over the seat to keep it dry:

You only get wet when you stop or go slow. I drove a 68 Bronco around quite a bit when I was younger in the Pacific Northwet, most of the time it was topless. Freeway speeds were no problem staying dry. I would go by an awning/sail maker and see if they could make you some type of cover to go over the tube doors. You could make it so it could be easily removed for trail use and re-installed for freeway driving.

I would skin them with sheet metal or polycarb. I'm always worried about getting a tree limb through my canvas doors.

Another alternative would be to make some quick disconnect door hinges and just bring the tube doors along with you if you have the space to haul them, I just throw my tube doors in the bed when I'm heading out for a long run in the summertime.
