Tuff Stuff RTT: Worth being looked at?

I am new to the market of RTTs, but I have done a bit of research and have found that I really like the style of the CVT Mt. Shasta model.
Only problem is, I don't have close to $2,000 to spend on it.

While looking for other alternatives, I ran across the Tuff Stuff RTT, which LOOKS to be an almost carbon copy of the CVT tent. Same shape, design, even the mattress seems to be the same, all for a $1,000 price tag.
I know that you get what you pay for, but I have heard good reviews about this tent, and it looks extremely similar to the CVT.
Has anyone had any experience with these tents? Is there a good reason its so much cheaper, or is it actually a good buy?

My soft-top RTT experience is limited to this one tent. I have not used other soft-top RTTs in the past. I chose this tent as it offered the best value when I was doing my research on the Internet. One factor was the shipping cost as I had to bring mine into Canada. I chose the Tuff Stuff RTT as it offered the next value/price considering it came with the awning. I also bought the additional ladder extension.

We used it for 8 camping trips during the summer. One of the trips was a week long trip to the Oregon dunes. We were caught in a couple of unexpected short thunderstorms. The tent held up well. My kids loved it. This tent is 57" wide which fits a 12, 11 and 8 year old very well (I sleep on the ground in an awning room). It will easily accommodate two large adults.

I recently switched to a Baroud hard shell tent. Reason being I typically off-road and camp out with a group. Packing up the tent with 3 kids in tow is a challenge for me when the group is eager to depart the campsite in the morning. The hard shell tent is easier to pack up.

I am a past owner and can recommend them highly. I did lots of comparison prior to purchase and this was by far the best deal. I owned /used the tent for 3 years and sold it locally last fall for $950. Good cost of ownership. I'm considering buying another.

FWIW: www.tuffstuff4x4.com has their roof top tents back in stock. $1199 delivered in the lower 48 with a floored annex. Which is a huge plus. May not use it every trip, but invaluable during cool or wet weather. I would not be without an annex on hand for use.

There are many "look-alike" tents out there. All I can say is that not all tents are created equal. There is a wide range of quality when it comes to materials/construction and quality control. Do your homework, and regardless of the brand you chose you at least go into the purchase with eyes open. Most important is that if it's something that gets you out there and exploring/camping more, then it's a good thing no matter which brand anyone has.

Annex on mine was sewn in - from their web site they appear the same. Annex interior room is pretty big. Website says 90" x 90". I had no issues having a small table and a couple chairs in it. You could probably do a couple cots without a problem.
