Tundra coils and tundra bilsteins on a Tacoma

I dont know....I would highly suggest getting ahold of the proper FSM for your truck and checking the diagram...Like I said, they seem to be pretty different and vehicle specific...No general rule, other than that there usually SOME sort of specific way to do it for each vehicle. For instance, on the Tundra, IIRC, on the LEFT coil, the pigtail end lines up with the front left outer corner of the truck, and the right pigtail lines up with the REAR of the front fenderwell/pinch weld area....??

I have a BUNCH of FSMs for different stuff...What exactly do you have? what year/model? I may be able to get you the relevant section out of the FSM...Its too bad NCTTORA got shut down...They had a bunch of stuff they were hosting.

I have been trying to find an active FSM for an 03 Tacoma or an 01-04 Tacoma, but all of the links that I have found have been shut down. I read the thread that you linked to that indicated the placement of the coils for a Tundra. I am almost leaning toward going that route, since these are Tundra springs. I found Steve's old instructions online, but they don't indicate any specific orientation of the springs. These were before he started using the 5100 shocks too.

If you have a link to what the factory call for on a taco, let me know. Thanks again for all of your help.

I'm back from our 3000 ish mile trek, and I didn't have time to update this thread with the finished results. I literally had the the shocks and tires put on within 8 hours of leaving on the trip so I had no room for error. Success.
I wanted to thank Steve at Sonoran Steel for helping me get this setup rebuilt correctly before the trip. For the record, Stone is correct with his description 2 posts up. The Driver's side needs to be oriented with the pigtail at the 11 o'clock position, and the passenger at 5. This is the same way they are oriented on a Tundra, and this cured my clunking and rubbing.
I put the Tundra bilsteins on at the middle position and with just an ARB bumper, I got about 3" of lift. I had to go back and compare some numbers from my initial install in 07, but that's what I am coming up with now. I didn't like the idea of maxing out my CV angles, even with a diff drop, so I threw on my Hi lift on the front and that brought down the setup to about 2.75". If I could do this over again, I would have put them on one notch lower, but with a winch going in soon, this should work for me.

On another note, the new BFG MT's in the 255/85/16 size are heavier and taller than the Coopers in the same size. I could feel them on the highway, and at full lock. However, they rode better, but I think that was due to the coils being on correctly.

Just wanted to pass on the knowledge. Tacoma owners, this setup does work, but with our trucks, the coil alignment is crucial.
