Certainly an adversarial encounter. It’s sad that the most powerful consumer group in the history of the world is subjected to this medieval process.
I would classify this in the “rent seeking” category. Nobody benefits from the dealer model except the dealers themselves and the low human capital labor working for them.
Ok. So to close this thread for good, I’d like to share that I was able to come way ahead in the price paid by negotiating a low price and accepting some insurance type products and then cancelling those and getting a refund. Netting a -18% out the door price relative to MSRP.
