Two people in an Eagle ?

It seems I'm waffling again , Can two people be reasonably comfortable in a FWC Eagle .I have a Ford ranger and I've been advised to buy another truck
[1/2 ton something or other] and move up to a larger camper. I say no , the ranger is not a mini truck ,imo. I have 4:56 gears for the Colorado mountains and thats plenty of gear for hauling around an eagle. grrr.

We had our Eagle on a 4 cylinder '99 Tacoma. We aren't small people but we were fine. The issues were close to GVWR, underpowered for the passes and inadequate braking. Your Ranger probably has better brakes, better GVWR capacity and a larger engine. If you pack light and efficiently, I don't see a problem. We also had a dog, plus I have two camera bags plus tripod. If you are comfy in your truck, you will be comfy in your camper. Most folks cook/eat outside and use it mainly for sleeping. Our Tacoma looks to be smaller than recent models. It will be easier to heat and your options are less limited to go off road in a larger truck. Just make sure you have great brakes. Have fun.

I suppose it depends on your definition of reasonably comfortable. If you are live outside oriented and conscious of your stuff then you should be fine. If you are looking for something more live inside oriented or have lots o' stuff, an Eagle, or any mid sized camper will probably be smallish. The two biggest complaints that people have with FWC IMO are space and storage. I own a Grandby and when it's me and my two sons, (1 young adult and 1 teen) packing takes some planning. I agree your Ranger, especially if equipped with the 4.0 six should have enough umph for an Eagle, Fleet or the old Ranger II if you come across one of those.

I been on many different sites and I 've never heard anybody complain about cramped quarters in a Eagle. The suggestion came to me from someone who has a Dodge quad cab so he believes bigger is better , I think after I get close and personal with a little smaller it'll be fine.

Wander west major contributor runs a ranger husband wife team with very similar rig as the eagle. I recall he added a stiffer leaf pack and has had great results lots and lots of trips through the Sierras and I think they hit Colorado not long ago. Seems to work just fine for them. I think it comes down to how much extra crap and toys you need to take with you.

I have an Eagle on a quad cab '15 Tacoma and it's fine for my wife and I. I did beef up the suspensions (OME heavy) and run E rated tires but have no problems with climbing or braking when fully loaded.

I'm running an eagle on a 2006 4 door Tacoma long bed. It is me, the wife and 2 kids. It is a little cramped if we need to cook indoors. 4 or 5 days isn't bad and we can fit most of our stuff in the camper. Just a lot of moving things around between sleeping hours and waking hours.
