ultra lightweight TT for off road use

Hi there. I'm looking to purchase a lightweight (less than 3,000 dry weight/unloaded weight), small (less than 20 feet), travel trailer I can use in the backcountry. I'll be pulling it with a 2007 Nissan Frontier v6 4x4, stock only, but I do have good 10 ply tires all season tires. I live in Oregon. I'm not going to be doing any hard core off road, just want to get to places my 4x4 can go, mainly keeping to Forest Service and BLM unimproved roads. I'm thinking of hunting camps or remote lakes where I can take my boys fishing. My research has turned up a Jayco swift slx Baja edition. These are supposedly designed for off road use. Are there any other mainstream fairly inexpensive TT's out there I similar to the Jayco I should consider? I want a hard sided trailer, bunkhouse model with a dinette and sofa. I don't care for slide-outs; I don't think they'd hold up over time with all the banging around.

Also, what about a trailer not designed for off road use, like the Rockwood mini-lite 1905? Can you cut out the wheel wells and put on 15 inch rims with 10 ply tires? What other mod's would it need?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have been struggling with the same dilemma. Though not technically off road or inexpensive moulded fiberglass is the way I'm going. Casitas can be ordered with a high clearance package however I'm going with Parkliner(starts at around $16,000 which seems like a good value). Just bought a JKUR so the trailer will be more of a family base camp deal.

Livin' Lite 13BHB or 16BHB with the off road package.

This is the one i was looking at (the 13BHB) to tow with the jeep/D90 - i need 4 beds and although i wish i could say i need a off-road trailer what i really need is a basecamp trailer that i can get into light duty spots (gravel roads, and minor trail places). I do need it to be self contained. There is a local dealer with a 13bhb that is technically a bearcat (wheels are outside of the body with fenders) which may work... Anyone use one of these?

I had a Trail-light, only really used it for winter camping. It was 2500-2800lbs empty. Worked ok, but sucked when the trailer got stuck, it was nearly impossible to get moving with the truck. not an off road model by any means, but did fine. Watch the location of the plumbing that hangs down for the dump valve.
