Good idea, post a showroom condition FJ on ExPo so one of us can buy it and modify the snot out of it.

That engine bay is a little unreal isn't it!

Wow! I am not even a Toyota guy, but how could you not be impressed by this truck.

Automotive ADHD is fun!
As the proud owner of three vehicles from the 1980's, all I see when I look at that damn engine bay is tons and tons of vacuum lines - the unplugging of even a single one of them will cause the mightiest motor to run like complete crap.

Nice truck, tho

I also just now did a search for a ..... 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser "GX"

1988 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 GX <~ the AD Title!

Like he posted in his title.

And Nothing showed up! I knew there was Never a GX!....What the>?!

Don't be so gullible......people!

Can anyone post up and prove that there was ever a 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser "GX".....?

I think when I ran the VIN on my 62, it came back as a "GX" - but there's no badging or anything...

The print out is out in the truck, and it's raining, so I'm not gonna go look right now.

**EDIT** - Curiosity got the better of me. Yes - according to my VIN, my FJ62 is a "GX".
...and I just found this little thread on IH8MUD: http://forum.ih8mud.com/********-chat-section/13732-land-cruiser-gx.html

I agree! Taking the vacuum lines off the truck was the best thing i could have ever done. Now to fill all that empty space....:sombrero:

I think that Toyota sold a few cars in the US with package designations that weren't badged. For example, I had a 1982 Celica GTS (GT + fender flares), but it was badged as a GT. In 1983 they started putting GT-S badges on them.

That is one sweet 'Cruiser. The seller is exaggerating a bit by saying that there are NO dings (photos show under driver's door handle, near passenger door lock, front bumper), but not when he said it is one of the cleanest 'Cruisers in the country. That's got to be the 2nd cleanest I've see. (Toyota 4WD owner had an article about a super clean one that an old lady owns a few months ago)

Best of luck to the seller of a great condition Land Cruiser.

And! I personally want to inform you that.....It's Not a "Car"!

I think it's OK to call it a car with those tires!

I take it there has been a little sensible pruning of some grumpiness from this thread but, just to settle the GX question, here's the back end of my 1988 HJ60 prior to getting a new bumper :D .

That FJ is astonishing, all it needs is a diesel transplant and it'll be just the thing for a resilient travel wagon.

Drool......

Do you have a build thread on this rig? Or some good links on how to make mine look like that?

Nice and clean!
