Unimog sighting in Cape Town

I did not have the chance to meet the owners, but it seems like they have been on the road for quite some time - all the way down from Switerzland.

The roof portion of the camper slides down and covers all the windows - I thought this could be an interesting example for some of you who are working on a similar design

That is a really nice truck, I wonder if the cab was a werid one off from the factory or whether they did it. I always though an extra cab would be great for a mog. The entire roof, the sloped section as well drops down, look at the middle picture in the first post, the one at 45 degrees from the front and you can see how the roof overlaps the body.

Compare this camper to mine and you'll the difference between removing the spider frame (flex mount) or keeping it. Look how high the camper body is, the camper is built with a normal floor and then placed on the exisitng mounts. Mine is about a foot lower because the spider was removed and pivots built diretly into the camper floor. The extra height allowed a fixed roof, significantly reduced weight and lowered the cg. On the plus side that truck has a completely flat floor, it has 14.5 tires and still has no wheel arches, mine has 12.5's and still needs huge wheel arches which protude into the camper.

Everthing is a compromise.

Thanks a lot for the great photos.
+1 on the extended cab, nice, and an awesome camper, with guest-house.
Do you think the snowboard gets much use in South Africa?
