Unique Manual Washing Machine- Could be great for camping!

Good idea - I've been using the Gamma lids for a lot of things - they would be ideal for that. Home Depot carries them BTW (probably not the best price though...)

Being able to close it up and let the bumps do the work would be very nice. I've seen rigs with a carrier on the back for a 5 gallon bucket for just that purpose (and storage).

use very little soap with the bucket method. you got to trail and error a little. when first trying it out rinse twice. if you get suds in the second rinse you used to much soap. if I am doing socks, a couple of table spoons is plenty. heavy items like towels or heavy pants take a little more. once you get the hang of it you need very little water, soap and only one rinse. highdesertranger

When was in the Army, we used a dedicated 5 gallon water can. Fill 1/3 full of water, a little soap, and stuff the clothes in. You could mount it to a truck or just stand and shake it. To rinse pour the water out and add fresh. Do this twice, wring them out by hand and hang to dry.

We were doing 1-2 month deployments, usually in desert environments. Works great, and you get your workout for the day.
