After languishing for three years without any attention, the iPod Touch has been given an upgrade. The new model contains many hardware features of the current iPhone 6, while employing a smaller 4 inch, 1136x640 screen. This is the display used by the iPhone 5 and 5s models. With 326 dots per inch, this screen is considered of "retina" quality by Apple.
