Upgrading...

I'll be getting a new, to me, truck next week. I haven't completely decided on which one I want but it's down to the F-150 Super Crew and the Silverado Crew Cab.

I think I'm leaning towards the Silverado more, I like the looks a little more and the interior looks much more upgraded than the Ford's I've been looking at.

Anyone have a suggestion either way? What about additions to the vehicles, have you seen anything good out there? I don't know what I'm going to do with the back yet, I'd like to put another cap on it like I have on my Dakota, but with WinDoors for better access on the sides. I carry a kayak and a mountain bike or two...

If you have examples of rigs you've seen I'd be interested in seeing any pics...

Main use is a reliable, everyday driver. I will be putting a cap on it eventually, just like what I have on mine now. I tow with it a little, small utility trailer for yard waste, etc. However we're on the fence of buying a boat someday. I want to do mild four-wheeling, if I can find it. We have a kayak and mainly use my truck to get to and from anywhere we go as a family when it comes to staying somewhere. If we're just going out and will be back we take my wife's SUV.

This truck will not be a haul monster obviously. If I had my wish the truck would be set up with a 2" lift kit, semi-aggressive all terrain tires, cap, roof basket and some aux. lighting front and rear.

I'm just on the fence of which I like more, the F-150 or the Silverado. they both look nice however I'm leaning towards the Silverado since I like the looks a bit more and there is more shoulder/hip room in it than the Ford, which I need for car seats.

I thought the 4 door fords had more room in the back. In the 2500-F250 I know the ford has more rear cab space.

According to the specs, unless I'm dyslectic, the Ford has more leg room but not as much shoulder/hip room. It's close though.

I'm not in the market for a F-250, although they have gobs of room...

I test drove a 2008 Silverado Z71 last night. Very nice. Only 30k on the clock. Lots of features I never knew trucks had, including a factory installed remote start. That will def. make this winter's mid night fire calls a little less brutal on the truck when I get out there in the cold. Just hit the button when the pager goes off and by the time I get to the truck the motor should have some oil in it. Got the room I'm looking for, the comfort and the safety. I'm very excited about this, I just need to find a cap for the truck. I plan on putting plenty of miles on her over the years starting with our upcoming trip to Maine.

Anyone have any comments, reviews or similar trucks I can ooogle?

If I could do it again I would have picked up a diesel instead of a gas motor... You should test drive a duramax just for ****s and giggles. I myself and on the lookout for a 12 valve, 97ish, quad cab, shortbed, Ram. All that said I still love my gas powered 5.7 Tahoe.

I have driven an '05 Duramax with the Allison tranny. Very nice indeed but WAYYY more then I need. They had one there, for about 5k more than the sticker I'm looking at. Just too much truck for my needs.
