Ursa Minor J30 bed width?

I am trying to convince my girlfriend that we should go with the J30 pop-up top - but she saw that the mattress is listed as being 4 feet wide - which seems a little tight - especially in hot weather. We are a bit spoiled with the queen sized bed in the back of my sprinter...

Since the roof of the JKU is wider than 4 feet - is there more space up there width-wise? Perhaps that is the actual mattress portion and there is some unpadded "elbow room" around the mattress?

Anyone know the actual width inside of the tent itself?

Thanks!

Some sort of lost...
Email or call John, he is very helpful.
I thought I remember the padding being 50" wide, and I thought there was an inch or two between the padding and the tent sides. This is all memory so take it for what it's worth. It's no queen sized bed though, it will be "cozy" with two up there.

I don't have the exact measurements, but there is space on the sides, how much I don't know. The wife, me and the 2 year old all fit. It was tight but workable, next time I have it open I will measure it.

J30 Bed Dimensions

Here are the dimensions, as mentioned there is a 1" space between the mattress edge and the tent wall all the way around. (For comparison, a queen measures 60 in x 80 in.)

That is awesome... Ask simple yet detail necessary question and get it stright from the horses mouth, diagram and all. Sweet.

Thank You Very Much John!

So is the wider end at the front? Didn't realize that it got narrower.

Updated diagram, the narrow end is at the front. The slight taper is needed to fit between the hinges and other exterior hardware. I put the dimensions on the hatchway as well so you get a sense of the standing room area. - Cheers, John

Thanks Again. It does help to have this - we are comfortable with a "double" bed mattress - which is 54" x 75" if I remember correctly...

You should add this drawing to your website.

I am 5'10", and my wife is about 5'7.- both average build. Our dog is a German Wirehaired Pointer - about 50 lbs. We can all fit up in the sleeping area without too much hassle. When the dog is sleeping in the "downstairs" there is plenty of room for two people to sleep comfortably.
