USB powered touchscreen

Nice find! I know other USB monitors have issues being the 'primary' display in windows, I wonder if the same applies here, that's a great price too! Even if if can't be a primary display, this would be a great 'navigator display' for the passenger or people in the back seat. Driver gets main control, navigator controls get a 2nd feed (like a movie or something for the kids) but they can also run the touchscreen. A ton of possibilities!

I was surprised to see this Lilliput touchscreens powered by USB. The laptop could be safely stored and GPS run off this screen. Brightness might be a problem

I'm going to get myself in trouble looking at this site! They have a nice integrated solution for my Subie that would be so sweet.

I've definitely had my eye on these. I just need to sort out which screen and where to mount it, but the computer has gotten great reviews and seems very durable. Just add a solid state drive and I think you've got a bombproof computer, err carputer.

The other issue with the fit2 for a carputer is the power supply. A good car DC-DC power supply handles turning on and of the computer and protects the battery.
The processor in fit2 is a 3W single core Atom. A 13W dual core atom is what most people would want to run GPS and music simultaneously. (Going from a $40cpu to a $65 cpu). The next big step is the core 2 mobile, used in the mac mini and more expensive laptops. That's like $250 and up for the CPU.
I recently built a truckputer with this in this.

That's a nice setup :) My first carputer was an off-lease P4 run by an inverter off a 2nd battery. Not the most efficient or space-friendly design :) That's been relegated to server duty in the house, and I've been looking at a new built-in but just can't justify the single-use cost (including memory, etc you are pushing 400-500USD). I've decided to go the multi-use touchscreen laptop route, and have been very happy with that. I think everyone has their opinion on this, so not trying to start some long discussion.

Back on topic, that screen ROCKS! and would work with either a dedicated carputer or a laptop :)
