Seems like a good deal to me. Lot's of extra parts, plus I would think that you could resell the fire engine parts, dropping the initial price even more. Wish I had some extra cash!

Highest and best use still likely to be wildland fire fighting, and my guess is that the people bidding on it expect to keep it in that use. There are, I would think, similar trucks available that would be a better starting point for an overlander.

By the way, does anyone besides me wonder about the "8 CYL, DIESEL" cited in the description? For that matter, does anyone see where (except by deciphering the VIN) they even said what model the base truck is?

Ummm . . . duh. Gruesomely poor comprehension, attention span, eyesight, something . . .

FWIW, that makes it a good deal more desirable. The number of 2450s in the US is really small, and 240 horsepower can't hurt.
